Douglas (Doug) Moseley received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Akron School of Law in January 2017. Before law school, he completed a 30-plus-year career with Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems (formerly Goodyear Aerospace Corporation), retiring as Vice President of Research and Technology. In that role, he managed the company’s carbon-carbon materials development and its overall research agenda across its U.S. and U.K. sites. In the last seven years of his career, he implemented the company’s intellectual property processes, from invention disclosure through patenting, including strategic management of the company’s overall IP portfolio. That experience led him to law school to pursue his interest in intellectual property protection.
Doug’s experience covers mechanical and structural devices, control systems, and high-temperature materials. He brings the perspective of someone who has managed IP from the client’s side, identifying the commercially and competitively significant aspects of inventions for IP protection.
Doug holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics, with honors, from The Ohio State University and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron. He holds six patents in aircraft electric brake actuation, brake heat management and sensing, and the use of high-energy-capacity phase change materials for heat storage.
